And the answer is.....

Could not wait to eat...I opened the package for block one and got to work. i am going to love this quilt. I can already tell!!

Supper= strawberries and Italian bread

Nothing on the design wall....

...I was going to take a picture of the ironing board but thought the better of it! I have the strips that make up the latice work for the quilt I started last month from the June Arerican Patchwork magazine. They are all jumbled up on the ironing board waiting. I need to press those bad boys so I can sew the blocks together.

I arrived home this afternoon and there was the box from The Fat Quarter Shop waiting for me. This is the project that is Gretchen's fault. I heart this material!!!! The dilemma is: should I eat some supper or cut out and sew block one???? I am really not that hungry yet, so Maybe I will just cut it out for now....

The finishing kit is beautiful.

Successful Sweet Home Trip

...but I have never really had an unsuccefful trip to Sweet Home!
I met Becky at her house and when rereading an email from earlier this week, I realized I was late. I thought I was meeting her at 10. The Plan was to be at Sweet home at ten....another senior moment. But now I am so it fits!
We met Kristi there and we did some retail therapy. I picked out fabbies for Chrsitmas Lights and also got a large bottom of Best Press. Becky got borders for Orange Crush and fab for her Christmas lights. I was so busy, I am not sure what Kristi got besides a cute pillow.
We ate lunch at a place in Conyers...name escapes me and then headed home.

Had dinner with Laur last evening with Carvel for dessert. Life is good!
Made binding for the 2 quilts at Peggy's- I will be good to go as soon as she calls

Still hot here

Quilt Inspector checks out Road to Glory

Wild Willie is just making sure that I sewed the blocks the way he arranged them!

I guess it passed his inspection as he is now back to stalking Henry.

Quilt block inspector on duty

This was when he was calm...then I started arranging the blocks. I guess Wild Willie was not happy with my arrangement, so he decided to help!
Then he was banished to the bedroom. You would think I had put him outside inzero degree weather in a monsoon. such howling!
At any rate, I have stacked the blocks and done the first sewing-there are a few places where the same fabric meet but oh well..it will be just fine thank you very much.
willie also thinks he should sit behind the sewing machine and bat at the work in progress.

I also found some fabrics in the stash for the Christmas Lights mystery quilt-even have some four patches already made from another project...off to a good start.....

I have no willpower....

...and it is Gretchen's fault! She blogged today about a block of the month from Fat Quarter Shop that she has joined......and I am having a crummy week at work as my coworker is on vacation-so I have her work, my work and the work of the case manager whose position has not been filled. Just lay me on the copier and make another me!!! I am not used to working this hard anymore and I don't like it!!!!!!! But Q will be back on Tuesday and then I won't feel the stress. I wish I weren't so anal about the job and making sure that everything is done on time and correctly...darn this work ethic. At any rate, to reward myself for doing a good job, I called and ordered the program for me too! It is soooo pretty.

Yup another project-so many projects so little time...and now I am going to go to the sewing machine and finish up the last 12 blocks of the Thimble quilt. Then I can fight Wild Willie while I attempt to lay it out in rows.

It was too hot to ber outside over the weekend so I decided to work a little on the Thimble quilt project for this month. This will be such a pretty quilt. I have completed 25 of the 64 blocks needed. I only had to unsew a little -that's a good thing! r><br>Now it is bac to work....

Trip to Bad Melisa's...

I delivered Cindi to Hartsfield this morning for her trip to visit her sister and then came home to do some stuff.
I really felt the need to visit Sweet Home after seeing Brenda's blog. I decided that if I got there at 10 I could be back home before the temp went over 90. (It was 75 at 6:30 AM).
Today was the last day of the sale and so I felt the need to purchase some of the sale stuff. The fat quarter bundle was 30% off. It is the line called Louisa. It is yum and I have not got the slightest idea what I will do with it! I also got the black and white to make the 4 patch for our fabric swap top. The flannel is for baby Reynolds and the project bag is just to put stuff in!!

I finished the back for the Fresh quilt. It is entirely pieced. I will give it to Peggy when she finishes the quilts that are there now. I have not ventured out again. It is just too nice sitting on the couch chilling with the guys.

One of Willie's toys has had enough....

I think Henry has had just about enough of cute. I noticed yesterday morning that this same routine. Now it is time for Henry to show Willie just who is the alpha cat in this house! Lots of meowing going on and it is from the little guy. The cats have established their pecking order!

Going to get out and about early today. It promises to be really Hotlanta. But I am feeling the need to go to Sweet Home.

Willie has discovered that his brothers make for great entertainment. He is now jumping on all of us! He is also chasing Henry and Spooky at every opportunity! Fun to watch

Georgia does some things right...

I needed to get to the tag office (motor vehicle) to keep my car legal. There is an office right down the street from the job so I went about ten this morning. I was in, out and back at work in 10 minutes! gotta love that-fast $91.!!!!

Weekends need to be longer...

Sunday evening already.....but it was a good weekend. Yesterday was Silver Thimble Club and as usual a good time was had by all. I am trying to be good and only select one project per quarter. I still have so many tops that are done but not quilted. This is the quilt for this quarter. It will be right nice when it is finished. Cindi and Gretchen are also doing this kit. Becky worked on Autumn Ride and Firecracker this time.
We collected our bricks from the exchange to make the Bricks and Stepping Stone swap quilt..a Bonnie Hunter design. And we all decided we would do the Bonnie Hunter mystery in the latest Quiltmaker magazine. So many projects, so little time.

Wild Willie and I spent a quiet Sunday afternoon on the couch watching something on the History channel. Now he is wide awake and racing around the house again.
The fabric has once more exploded out of the sewing room...I have a partially done back for Fresh on the bed in the guest room. I want to get that done soon. There are piles of fabric on the kitchen table, coffee table in the living room and even on the computer. Gotta round it up.....soon. In the meantime, I think I will try to square up some more of the half square triangles before it is time to head for bed!

Guest Blogger discusses current affair

I am thinking about that most intelligent cat Garfield. He had a nemesis named Nermal. I am thinking that Nermal has resurfaced and is now living in Lawrenceville. He arrived about a month ago. Now I am forced to deal with this rodent! He does not leave me alone. I want to sleep, he is annoying me by running around. I want to eat, he attacks my tail. I am ready to boot him into next week. And she thinks he is adorable...just because he uses his wiles. Why does she not understand that he is using her! I wonder how Gretchen's kids would deal with this problem?

Planning new project

On the phone last evening with Kris. She was on the web again and has found the fabric line that she wants for the baby's room. My assignment: bumpers, diaper holder, window treatment and of course, the quilt. First thing though is to find where this fabric is available. i directed her to Intown Quilters as this is the only shop that I know that would be likely to carry this line. We will see. I need to once more head into the sewing room to see if I can find the pattern for aforesaid bumpers.
If anyone has suggestions for online shops to check out, please let me know.

Kris tells me that Laurie said I traumatized her for life by doing a primary color quilt when she was small. Who knew? Actually I attribute that quilt to her success in life ala MBA!

Tomorrow is Thimbles, yippee!! I am so looking forward to getting together with these great ladies! I wonder if we will come up with more variations on those coffin quilts! But for now, it is time to get ready for work!

top done with help from the boys

I was stermined that I would get Autumn Ridge done this weekend. And I did!!!

Next week at Thimbles, there is another exchange. I am planning on not taking years to complete it!

I now have to figure out what to put on the back. I found the other Autumn Ridge quilt top from Pinheads. That one needs a back and to be quilted as well!

Weekend plans....

Last evening I took the plunge and began cutting the two inch strips from our autumn ridge exchange. I set up my table in the living room and while watching tv, I got the pieces cut and put in bags. I was afraid that I would not have enough strips but I have leftovers so that is good.

This morning was Wild Willie's visit to the vet for next shot. He has doubled his weight in the 3 weeks that I have had him despite not eating the higher calorie kitten food. Henry and Spooky are big enough, so I don't want to put kitten food down for them to eat. He howled all the way to Duluth and back in the carrier.

I still need to go get the emissions done on the car so I can get my new sticker for the car.

Came home and worked on the blocks. I have completed the first 16 blocks....64 to go!! I am sure Becky got hers done while she was up in Blue Ridge. I would love to have all of the blocks done by Thimbles next weekend. Not sure that that will happen but at least I have started it!!

My excuse

Okay, it is now Thursday......the road to h*** is paved with good intentions. I have spent the last three nights looking at the project. And that is as far as I have gotten! I even dug out the Autumn Ridge top that I made with Pinheads (still not quilted).

Now here is my excuse.....I REALLY need to attack the sewing room. When talking to Louise last night she had an insight. It is such a mess that is overwhelms me. I can go with that!

So Becky...you will have your Autumn Ridge done before I will.
This weekend I WILL attack the sewing room. That is after I take Wild Willie to the vet for his next shot and get the emissions done on my car.

Becky's challenge

Several years ago, Gretchen, Becky and I did an exchange to make a quilt top called Autumn Ridge. Of course Gretchen completed hers the same year(month, probably)! Becky and I would talk about it when it came up at sisters and then Thimbles. In her most current post, Becky has decided that the time has come to complete this top. So at 6:15 this morning, I began the hunt for the strips. Now I knew they were all together SOMEWHERE in the sewing room. OMG my sewing room is way beyond disaster area. I thought I knew where it was. Wrong not there. I really need to do something about this mess. Then I went into the other room to see if perhaps I had put it there and success I found it!!!! Bonus I even located the book. In the process of the search I have piles all over the sewing room. Before I can do anything, I MUST try to sort, straighten and toss some of that mess! Time for a large container to donate some of the fabric pieces and leftovers that I will never use!
