Addicted to mysteries

I worked on step two of the mystery at Thimbles.  I am not going to show much because I don't want to spoil the mystery for anyone else.  We did get to see the fabric selection of those of us who are doing the project-each one different.  I can't wait to see how this project turns out.  I do beleive all the quilts will be awesome.
It was good to be together this session.  We have all shared in the sadness over losing Jackson.  I found comfort in being with all of the Thimbles and I hope and believe that Andy and Pat did as well.  We all know what quilters mean to each other.  We are there for the good times as well as the awful times.  And I do beleive that our Thimble  group has and will continue to do that.

I am heading into my last week of work.  Last week one day I felt a little sad.  Now not so much.  I am ready to walk away.  I am ready to retire.  I am ready to not wake up, get dressed and head out the door to deal with "stuff"!  And this will be the last Sunday afternoon that I mourn the end of the weekend.

Now my friends and family will just probably shake their heads at this photo.  Nursing Home week.  I think today's theme was 70's and 80's.  And I was not an outlaw during those years.  Those years were spent changing diapers, taking kids to scouts and dance and probably working on stupid projects assigned by random teachers   (Like that scrawny third grade teacher that Laurie had and the dang solar system out of Styrofoam balls.)!
No the gun-toting Momma in the picture is me being silly.  I only have a few days left to make my mark.  Today I signed up for supplemental insurance and my Medicare D  Rolling right along!

there must me an easier way....

All day I have been playing with this and trying to write the blog.  I wish I knew what I did this time but I was finally able to add a new post.  I have been so frustrated by this.    At any rate, I started playing with the above block last evening.  I think this is the technique that will be done at quilt retreat in August.  I bought that book when I went to Blairsville  (it came with a ruler!)  It has been sitting in a pile since then.

I got the block done but it did not come out right and I could not figure out what I did wrong.  So I started again this morning at dark thirty  I think I figured it out.  I will have to check it out with Peggy.  It makes good use of scraps.  I have a container with strips and I pulled those out as well as leftovers from the last swap.  More to follow!

I am resting on my latest acquisiton.  I think she said it is called Roll Roll  Cotton Boll..whatever that means.  I hope that Lily knows that this one is much nicer than the quilt that Mom made for her. 

AND look, she has been busy.  She has been making another one.  FYI-I am not sharing-not even with Wild Willie

Normal?

My friend Pat (the Supreme Head Thimble) wrote a blog about being normal a few days ago. Check out Silver Thimble Talk- she is one funny lady but not really normal. I laughed so hard I cried.  It was too funny.  At any rate, I make no claim to being one of the "normal" ones. Take this morning, for instance.  I had to make a run to Publix because I had to have a BLT.  I had some B but no L or T.  I needed a few other things as well.  I usually shop on "old people's day" for the discount but since the freezer is kind of bare, off I went.

I got some lovely tomatoes and lettuce, and a few other things I needed and a few that I didn't need.  I am putting my stuff into the car and there in the cart I spot a piece of lavender fabric.  It looks like maybe a four inch square. Hmmm......would a "normal" person pick it up?  I did and put it right back in the cart.  Junky fabric, not worthy of becoming part of a quilt.

And now back home.  The BLT was excellent

 Wild Willie really does excel in chillin'.  I wonder what he is going to do when I don't go to work?

Works in progress-Swap #5-romantic rails.  I have made all 240 of the little blocks and I have decided to assemble in sections.  Above is 1/4 of the quilt.60 blocks together.  No rhyme, no reason, just pick them up and sew them together.  Spooky has discovered it.  I am glad since his last favorite quilt went to live with Lily.
