Guest commentary...

I have had not so much fun the last 2 days. First, she doesn't feed me. MY food has been removed and I am SO hungry. And then I am put in a container with prison bars on it. It is not at all comfortable. I am used to sleeping on layers of wonderfully soft quilts. And then it is a ride in the car. It is dark out still so I can't see where I am going. But when we arrive I know I have been in this place before. It is where they poke me and jab me. I DON'T LIKE IT. And then she leaves me there. I don't know what I did to deserve this. More sticking and then....something must have happened but I am not sure what. I went to sleep. When I woke up I felt a little bit different and not so good. But they gave me something and I felt better. (I heard them talking about me and how cute I am). Well I know that...I am quite the handsome boy. I am still in a cage but then they come and tell me I am going home. That's good....then I get put back in that box again.....I HATE THAT BOX.
But the good thing is that I am now back in my house. My brothers are hissing again. Guys..it's me...Wild Willie...let's play I'll chase you and then I'll chase you some more.
To all the people who asked about me, thank you. I am fine. But my butt hurts a little.

Project Bags

I found these bags when I was at Publix this week. Maybe I can begin to get myself organized...probably not! But these are a nice size bag to keep everything togeter, visible. The bag has a handle and it of course, ziplocks. 5 bags in a box. Good size. I found them with the other plastic bags at Publix.

The house is so quiet without my little man. I will pick him up after work today. You had better believe I will be leaving work early today! I don't think Henry and Spooky have issed him at all. They both stayed very close to me last evening.

The natives are very unhappy...

Well I have been "up" since about four this morning. The reason is partially due to my inability to stay asleep all night but also, in this instance, due to the boys looking for food. I had to take up the food last evening at 8 PM in preparation for Willie's surgery today. Now I repeatedly told them last evening that they had better eat their supper. I guess they weren't listening because starting at about 11 PM, they were complaining about no food. You would think that they had not had anything to eat in days. They have another hour to wait however. I have to be at the vet when they open at 7, so I can go on to work. I will put Willie in the carrier and then Henry and Spooky will be able to eat at long last!!

On a much sadder note, Kris amd Tyler's dog Gunnar died yesterday. He had been sick for the last couple of months with an irritable bowel type thing and the vets were trying prednosine and special foods. Needless to say the kids are devastated at their loss. This has not been a good year for our animals-first Bailey, then Spiff and now Gunnar.

Hump Day update....

I guess I have to say it-the week has not shown much improvement. The good news is that it is now Hump Day. I have made it so far!!

This evening I have to take up all the food since tomorrow is Willie's Big Day! I get to hear him howl in the car all the way to the vet in Duluth before 7AM! He will be staying overnight and I will pick him up after work on Friday. He is NOT going to be a happy boy.
On another note-he has finally realized that he is able to successfully jump onto the kitchen counters. Also the bathroom sink. Now I can get rid of the floor water bowl in there.

I managed to not be awake in the middle of the night last night. The sleep that had eluded me the night before must have found me.
Guess I should get back to work......

At least someone had a good day....

Today was one of those days when I wish I could win the lottery so that I would not have to work! The day was not actually bad, it was me. I just did not want to be there. Tomorrow will be better.

Then I came home and the cleaning lady had been here. House look nice but she tried to pull a fast one on me and schedule herself a week early. I am not playing that game. I really hate having someone else clean my house when it comes down to it. I think I will tell her that I just can't afford her anymore after next time. That means I will have to wash my own floors. Oh well.

My little boy was working at his quilt quality assurance and I think he was satisifed with my latest quilt. I still need to take a picture of it. But right now it is time to forage in the kitchen for something to eat!

WILLIE!!!!!

Just when I think he may be calming down a bit, Himself demonstrates that I am wrong!!! This morning I went into my bathroom to find that he decided to unroll the toilet paper. I have never had an animal do that before. TP all over the bathroom floor. And I know it had to be him because the other tow would never even think about it. I made the appointment yesterday for his "operation". He will go on Thursday.

I am still working on the binding on the project from last year's quilt camp. I will post a picture when I complete it. One more project completed.

I am feeling the need for a trip to Sweet Home to celebrate Bad Melisa's upcoming birthday and anniversary of my favorite place to shop. Not that I need anything but there is a sale, after all! Gretchen of Stella Bella mentioned this as well as did Cindi. I am also looking forward to her Midnight Madness sale the end of August. It was so much fun last year.

But now it is time to knock off some of the usual Saturday stuff.....

Binding time

Yesterday I picked up my quilt at Peggy's house. It is the quilt project from last year's quilt camp. So the project for the upcoming weekend will be to put the binding on it. Bring on the tylenol because by the end of the weekend, my hands will surely be aching. Peggy, as usual, did a great job and the quilting is very visible on the back side of the quilt-not so much on the front because the front is so very busy. I will post a picture when this bad boy is done!

Haven't done much of anything after work this week. Veg on the couch mostly. Did make a stop at Publix yesterday to cash in on the old people discount. I have always HATED-DESPISED the term senior citizen. I am OLD...no big deal. Old is good. It beats the alternative of being dead!!

Now I will put the soap box away and get ready to go to work and deal with more old (older than me, mostly) people.

Chocolate Pudding run...

You would think after 11 years in Atl I would be over some food issues. Not so. I only like My-T-Fine chocolate pudding. Jello just does not cut it. Kris brought some back from Ct where they were vacationing-doing the grand tour. Also some Drake's coffee cakes. I have to go over to her house and retrieve them. Such a good kid-thinking about her crazy mother. She even called Entemann's to find out about the availability of a certain cake. It is Sue's favorite. Unfortunately they no longer make it. I think I will have to start a petition. You would not believe how good it was. Chocolate filling with tiny chips in a cake and then dusted with powdered sugar. Yummm..alas, no longer....

Picture that goes with the story....

Dah......

Bricks and Stepping Stones..partial assembly

One of the projects on my to do list is the swap with the Saturday Thimbles ladies. I started working on the four patch units yesterday. I worked some more when I returned home and this morning started putting it together. I stacked it and I still have four more rows to finish sewing.

I needed to go see Sarah and Emma this afternoon and we went shopping for school supplies and to Michael's for projects for the upcoming week. Then I watched while they cleaned their rooms. The girls lack for nothing! Sue declared "payback is a B*&(^*." Yes Sue, I know it is...heehee. Key word here is I watched!
Then I had to come home and take a nap from all that watching!

Can this be the middle of July?

The weather today is absolutely magnificent. There is no humidity to speak of and the sky is a glorious blue. What a wonderful day!!
What could be bad because today was Thimbles and time spent with a great bunch of people. Gretchen, Becky, Cindi and all the others-happy sewing machines humming. I am not doing this month's project. Although it is a great quilt. Today I worked on Bricks and Stepping Stones. This is the swap we agreed on a couple of months ago. The pattern is a Bonnie Hunter one...i guess I am a Bonnie Hunter groupie. I completed making the four patch units. Becky was also working on this project and she was arranging the units today. Next month I will be doing the project. It is made with another Moda fabric. I ma going to end up with 2 Glace projects!

And now I must get all of the stuff I took with me today back to it's home. Right now it is in the middle of the kitchen floor. Gotta do it before I park myself on the couch because once that happens..it is all over!

Wild Willie is Wierd Willie too...

Okay-I know that the boy is a little bit wild (an understatement to say the least). Tonight I decided I needed to have a substantial supper. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich three nights in a row was just not going to make it! I treated myself to Shane's Rib Shack. It was yum. I topped it off with their banana pudding. You have to have something to wash down the barbecue, right?
I really was quite full, and ate about half of the portion. I put it on the table..the next thing I know the fur person is eating banana pudding. The boy is Southern!!

Tomorrow is Thimbles. I am not quite sure what I will be working on. I need to go into the room and pull my supplies together. I finished block 2 of the Fat Quarter mystery club last evening.

Oh...and I am so very happy that it is Friday evening..2 delightful days until I have to go back to work.

Lovin that it's already Hump Day..

Now it is downhill to the weekend!
I felt the need for a trip to Sweet Home yesterday after work. I bought a backing for my Gretchen quilt from fabbie in the sale room. Gotta love a sale
I also bought a white fab for the quilt that I want to work on next-from the new book that both Gretch and I like. Then Melisa showed me a new tool that she said I had to have...so I bought it. It is called the Wing Clipper. It is a tool for making flying geese. Of course, I will not be able to use it on the current project but now I have it!!!

Today I came home to a treat in the mail box. The next block from Fat Quarter Shop. Gretchen has already made hers. I feel the sewing machine calling as I write....

Gotta think about Thimbles this weekend!!!

UFO off the list

This is Gretchen Made Me Do It. And I am glad I did! I don't have a backing for it yet.

I thought I killed my cell phone....

Actually...Wild WIllie was trying to get to the table and knocked over my purse, dumping the contents on the floor. I picked it up and thought nothing of it. Then I decided to check in with one of my NY friends. I always use the cell phone because it is cheaper than the land line. The phone won't work at all. Drat!
I got in the car and drove over to T Mobile prepared to shell out money for a new phone. She says "did you check the battery". Dah...I couldn't figure out how to open the darn thing. At any rate she took out the battery and put it back in and vooleevous...the phone works. Thank you cell phone goddess!

Making progress on the Gretchen Made me do it quilt..I should have it done for Thimbles this weekend.

Preliminary List

-Christmas Lights-the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt

-Glory Bound-need to make the back and it is ready to go for quilting

-Pick and Choose-the scrappy quilt from 2009 quilt magazine-good progress on this one

-Glace-Fat Quarter Shop mystery quilt

-Florida mystery quilt

-Florida workshop quilt-Peggy's pattern

-jelly roll quilt from the new book (at least one of these!)

Now this was just off the top of my head. If I were to venture further into the sewing room, I am sure there are more partially done projects. I think I will need a trailer to take all these projects to camp!

I decided that I needed a road trip today. I wandered around a bit. I went to Intown Q. I was in and out of there in maybe 5 minutes. They had nothing that I was interested in-too artsy. Then I decided I would go down to McDonough to check out that shop. I really like that store. But it is a far piece! I wandered home not on the interstate-not quite sure where I was but it was pretty.
I think tomorrow I will stop in and see Laur and all the dogs!

The weekend has begun

I really savor Friday night. To me it is like a major holiday every week. It is my do whatever I want night. Usually I do nothing. Last night was a do nothing night. I thought about doing stuff but never quite got around to it-that includes supper!. I did eat some leftover roast beef, water and some fruit chunks. About 9 I decided I needed chocolate pudding, so I made some. I really wanted ice cream but was just too lazy to get in the car and go get it! After the chocolate pudding, I chilled on the couch, watched tv and fell asleep. I woke up to Conan and then I went to bed.
Now it is is almost 5 AM and I am wide awake. I think I will have some coffee and then think about making a list of UFO's that I will start working on. I spoke to Cindi last evening and we were discussing projects to be done at quilt camp in September. It is never too early to be thinking about camp. Something to look forward to!!
Another something to look froward to comes much sooner. Next weekend is Thimbles. This week was the Summer Stitch In but alas, I had to work! I can't remember if I signed up for this month's project or not. I guess I will have to find out sometime this week. Otherwise, I will gather up one of the aforementioned UFO's.

But now....I need a cup of coffee

Thursdays are good but Fridays are better...

So far this has seemed like quite the long week. But now just one more day until the weekend...eight hours...480 minutes....are you getting the drift? Sometimes certain people just get on my last nerve. But enough about work because right now I am not there!

I finally sent the quilt off to NY. It took me all this week to get to the post office and I pass by it going to and from work. First I needed the box and then I forgot the address and on and on it seemed to go.

I have decided that I now must begin to plan on the projects I will take to quilt camp this year. It is going to be a finish up some of the half done stuff I already have. Works in progress at this point: the scrappy quilt from the magazine, the Bonnie Hunter Christmas lights, the fabric swap with the Thimble gals, the Fat Quarter Mystery. That is just off the top of my head-I know there are many more. When Kris gets back from the north country, I will need to begin working on the nursery projects.
But now I think I will go clean and eat some of the strawberries I just bought.

not a great picture...

..but it is done! Will ship it up to NY this week

Willie meets the kids

Sarah and Emma came over for a sleepover. Willie may need a week to recover!

We had our usual picnic on the livingroom floor. We put down one of the quilts and have Midkey D's and watch movies. I did not know that the Disney channel was on at midnight. Yes, they pretty much can do what they want (within reason) when they come to Meena's house. We watched some of the neighborhood fireworks and lots of Disney. Willie did enjoy playing with Polly Pockets.

This morning when they come back to life, I will take them home. Actually Sue and I will hook up at church.

I did complete the binding yesterday before the girls arrived. I think this quilt only mkaes6 completed for this year. I will get a picture later.

Atlanta Tradition-The Peachtree Road Race

Yes, I will be participating-along with the 55,000 others....passively. I got up to watch it on tv. The closest I will ever get to the race is vicariously through Laurie. She ran and completed the race several years ago. As I write, the winner has already crossed the finish line. He ran the race in about 27 minutes. Both the men and women winners are from Kenya.

I picked up the quilt to be donated to Cursillo yesterday from Peggy Barkle. I am now putting the binding on it. Progress is slow as the binding is black and the back of the quilt is also a black background. I am pretty much sitting under a light in order to see! I hope to have it completed by the end of the weekend so that I can ship it up to Kathy next week.

Also was playing around with the other quilt I am working on. I thought I had completed all the block and just needed to sew it together. Wrong Mighty Moose Breath. I couldn't figure out why I had this pile of 4 patches in the box. Well, I needed to make another 8 blocks before I can put it together. Yet another senior moment!
I have decided that I am no longer going to acknowledge birthdays-in fact I think I will subtract a few. Age is just a state of mind anyway!

Pictures of the quilts in progress to follow.....
